Who I am

Dr. Marián Vávra – founder of Applied-Econometrics.com

Marián is currently the Advisor to the Governor at the National Bank of Slovakia (NBS). He holds a Ph.D. degree in Theoretical Econometrics from University of London (Birkbeck College). As a sessional lecturer, Marián was teaching different economic and econometric courses at University College London (UCL), Singapore Institute of Management (SIM), and Birkbeck College. He was also the Head of Economic Modelling Unit and the Advisor to the Ministry of Finance of the Czech Republic in 2003 - 2009. Marián’s main research interests include topics from time series econometrics such as regime-switching modelling, volatility modeling, hypotheses testing, forecasting, and bootstrap techniques.
